Leo F Smith, International Dark-Sky Association
Transportation Ecology in Construction, Operations and Maintenance
Poster Session and Reception (Reception starts at 6pm)

Roadway Lighting, when poorly designed, has adverse effects on the ecology and wildlife. Plants, fish and bird migration, reptiles and mammals are each affected by light pollution and trespass. Best practices in roadway lighting include shielding, restricting the streetlight's blue wavelength content and using automatic dimmers during off-peak hours.
