Mitigation for Transportation Projects
Poster Session and Reception (Reception starts at 6pm)

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 6 has been working on a mitigation project to provide compensation for multiple current and future transportation projects that impact the types of habitats (vernal pool, vernal swale, seasonal pool, seasonal swale and annual grassland) and dependent special-status species such as California Tiger Salamander, Vernal Pool Fairy Shrimp and Succulent Owls Clover that occur within the Caltrans Madera Pools Mitigation property. The Madera Pools project consists of the creation (establishment), restoration (re-establishment), enhancement (rehabilitation), and preservation of 124 wetland features. Caltrans has been currently working on coordination with resource agencies such as California Department of Fish and Game, U S Fish and Wildlife Service and U S Army Corps of Engineers to finalize the mitigation property.
