The Staying Connected Initiative (SCI) is a regional conservation network of over 65 agency, non-profit, and academic partners working together at multiple scales to conserve, restore, and enhance connectivity in the northern Appalachian to Acadian ecoregion, a vast and uniquely important forested landscape that links the Adirondacks in New York to the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, Canada.
Coordinated by The Nature Conservancy, SCI connects the dots between connectivity needs and solutions, bringing projects and partners together for greater collective impact.
Our work to advance transportation solutions that make roads safer for wildlife and people is part of our broader, multi-scale, multi-pronged approach to regional connectivity and climate resilience that leverages co-benefits while supporting local communities and economies. We work collaboratively to integrate transportation and habitat protection strategies, map priority sites for connectivity, and coordinate efforts across geographies and jurisdictions.
